Nan Young, Artist/Photographer

Born and raised in Westerly, RI, where I still happily live, about 7 minutes from the ocean.

I have traveled some. And that combined with the natural beauty of my small town — with its four New England seasons, Victorian strolling park, beautiful downtown architecture, and of course, miles and miles of beaches — has always provided me with interesting things to photograph!

I studied black & white photography at the University of Rhode Island with the late Bart Parker, who always gave excellent suggestions and challenges, and Stephan Brigidi, also at URI.

I am drawn to water images, reflections, nature, and interesting patterns in light and dark ... in general, things that cause me to exclaim, "OH, cool!!" My style is unapologetically eclectic — much like my taste in music, art, theatre, food ... and friends!

I also provide design services for web and print, including logo design.
